The Granders of Bazaruto Island

The Granders of Bazaruto Island: Aloha´s and greetings from a warm Mozambique… it’s been a while, we have been busy and travelling around the last month on a trip that took us to Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Pierce in Florida and then down to Isla Mujeres in Mexico and we will report on that and the fishing conditions at Bazaruto on a couple post very shortly.

For the time being we just want to check in and that we are back and taking bookings for this year as we will start fishing the Archipelago shortly with our first guests arriving in Mid-March.

So, if you fancy a trip to Vilankulos and the Bazaruto Archipelago, be it light tackle conventional or spinning, popping for GT´s, fly fishing or jigging for a variety of species or do some heavy tackle please contact us at;

One of a double hook up Black Marlin aboard Vamizi shortly after sunrise at the Bazaruto Archipelago – both fish were released with the biggest being estimated at 600 pounds.

Elephant do eat peanuts – this BIG FISH caught by Dave Royston aboard VAMIZI took a small Super Pro Jet lure by Black Bart. A few days later his son Duncan released another similar fish on the same lure. We called both fish 950+ although we think that Dave´s did have the girth to go all the way and potentially make it to the Bazaruto Grander´s club!

We have written a tad about the Marlin fishing history of the Bazaruto Archipelago, namely its iconic Giant Black Marlin long-standing fisheries and you can enjoy a couple of those posts on the links below.

However, Ski Boat magazine has just published an article on their last issue both about a great fish that Andre “Jouba“ Joubert (renowned Springbok fullback of the 1990s) released this last Season of the Bazaruto Archipelago as well as an article on the quest of the big Black Marlin caught over the years in the area.

We collaborated with Sheena from Ski Boat magazine on some info and photographs on this last article and for those of you that have not yet read the article you might find it interesting.
