Fishing Inhaca in season is all about the blues. Blue marlin love the underwater features of the deep blue waters behind Inhaca Island. The granders are here!

Striped marlin, black marlin and sailfish feature as by-catch when pursuing the blue marlin. Some boats have recorded double-figure strikes in a day and multiple releases.

Although Fishbazaruto.com are totally dedicated to tag and release, and work with conservation entities collecting DNA samples for comparisons between populations – sometimes, it doesn’t work out. This 1000lb plus blue marlin taken off Inhaca by Carl Jankowitz a few years ago, fell foul to a tail-wrap and she did not make it. But the well-made video documents a day fishing Inhaca with Duarte and crew.

Bait is easily found although the lures we drag produce as much action, if not more, on any given day.

Hunting the outsized and bad-mooded GTs is also on the cards. Wahoo and dorado swim in the same waters as the billfish and jump on our marlin offerings too. The deep jigging brigade can be safe in the knowledge that huge amberjack and the odd dogtooth patrol the drop-offs and pinnacles.

Sight fishing with flick sticks for bait and other trophy gamefish like queen mackerel, queenfish and small ‘couta will keep you on your toes all day long.

Boats

The Inhaca boats are seriously rigged for big fish. Big horsepower. Big tackle. And comfortable. Crews and land support are well experienced with the operation of a big game fishing outfit during a busy season.

Accommodation

The best available on the island, or across at Santa Maria. It is also possible to stay in Maputo and launch from there.
