Winter Blue Marlin Madness
Winter Blue Marlin Madness: winter time is the right time for blues
Blue Marlin Warning!
It’s pretty crazy that with the lack of boats and clients rarely wanting to go out wide outside the historical peak season we yet have so much to know about the Blue Marlin fishery of the Bazaruto Archipelago
It’s pretty cool when you are in the middle of winter, 23c water and for weeks no one has any idea on what’s happening out wide – then you go out there and…
BANG!!!!
Grande Azul went out there a few days ago and got one and missed another.
So, a few days later and after a rather slow game fishing day we went out wide on Strenue and got one about #300 out of three bites!

Blue Marlin aboard Strenue for Warren Chapman caught on our little green terror also known as the Marlin Magnet from the Pulsator lures stables!
Then on Game Changer a few days later released one from one the first day, a nice first Marlin for Johann on a 30-pound tackle!
Second day was some light tackle fishing which produced two sailfish and a bunch of wahoos.
Then the last day was only a half day as there was a big front coming at noon and that produced another Blue on #30-pound tackle and a sailfish release.

Winter Blue Marlin Madness – Game Changer went out wide for two days releasing 2 Blue Marlin on 30-pound tackle as well as a sailfish. On their light tackle inshore released another 2 sailfish and loads of wahoo
Rocksteady also got into the action and released one Blue Marlin from two bites and raised a third fish.
On the same day the Kraken also went wide for a few hours and also released a Blue Marlin, missed a sailfish and got a bunch of wahoo!

The Kraken and Rocksteady also got into the Winter Blue Marlin Madness and on their day out wide released 2 Blue Marlin out of 3 bites and raised a fourth fish!
On the same day while fishing inside Vamizi released a sailfish and pulled the hooks on a Black Marlin by the boat. After a slow down for a couple weeks the last few days have seen a good steady sailfish and wahoo bite
Off season and every single boat that as gone out wide this last week released Blues – just shows you how year-round this fishery can be but let’s not forget one of the best Blue Marlin fishing days we have had and the biggest Blue we have ever seen on the Bazaruto Archipelago where both in July!
Off season they say …

Still one slot open for the so-called heavy tackle season in late September …
