# 1,100 Black Marlin in the hot Seat
Not in my wildest dreams did I ever tough I would have tough I would ever have the chance to actually be in the chair to catch a Grander Black Marlin…
I mean I drive the boat and if I get a shot at actually pulling one its once or twice in a decade.
The last one I caught was actually exactly 5 years ago on the reef!
And, the biggest one I had ever caught myself was around #500.
But what had to be had to be and the Marlin Gods smiled on me and actually could not haae had a better script!!!
BIG BOB
Had the three first days of November so joined Kevin, Divan and Chris on Big Bob.
The first day was flat calm and beautiful and we ended 1 from either 3 or 4…
Released a sailfish early morning while bait fishing
At 9 we marked one on the sounder and immediately a fish looking about 250 wacked the swim bait but no pick up and 10 minutes later (might have been the same but looked smaller) take the swim again loaded up jumped and off.
It’s been the kind if scenario last few days with small fish just whacking the swim bait and then no pick up or they get nose wrapped…
Then at 12 a fatter rat showed up all excited on the big skip bait, then switched to the swim and we hooked up.
No monster but really cool to be back on the chair and get one…
At 14h50 marked another one and on the second turn it whacked the swim bait peeled some line and off. Come back a couple minutes later whacked but no pick up.
02 Nov 2021
Bit of a northerly blowing and late start.
Started at Giants where it looked sort of greenish but got better as we worked north but certainly not the flashy electric blue we been having last few days.
50 mins later we see a fish free jumping behind us turn around and sure enough crash bite on the skip.
Bit of an over commitment and head shakes straight after the bite.
Wrapped up bit of a run and jumps off.
Next!
Just after 2pm pm a real one show’s up on the swim bait.
Just the most amazing crash bite.

1h40 of real sweat & pain with some extreme drag and release.
Quite a few experienced guys on the boat, between us all we have seen a good number of real big fish and all agreed this think was 1 100 lbs or better.
What a privilege to be in the hot seat!
it’s all about the experience and the people you share it with and, could have not have asked for a better and more professional bunch of guys.
Thanks Divan, Chris and most of all Kevin for the opportunity and the experience, more than anyone you deserve this fish for the time, effort and passion you have put into this fishery
Love it
