Diggin the Jiggin – Honeycomb Grouper with FishBazaruto.com in between marlin #bazaruto #mozambique
It isn’t always about Marlin. The Diggin the Jiggin series by FishBazaruto.com takes us out of the fighting chair and hands-on catching bait and often dinner.
Honeycomb Grouper
This vibrantly designed Honeycomb Grouper fell victim to a well-presented jig fished off the good ship Vamizi. Chiefly a marlin fishing boat, Vamizi adapts super to jigging with her 360-degree walkaround design.
Catching bait can be a challenge sometimes. But not doing it this way. In amongst the reef fish and kingfish are the bonnies, scads and other great marlin baits.
Marlin Season
Is right about NOW! It might be a tad early for the big fish. They normally show up October or so, but last year the best bite @ bazaruto was actually early to mid-September including some good ones as well. But the weather has played along recently and the Vamizi is out there hunting every day possible and caught her first Marlin on the first hour of the first fishing day. They then raised another three, with two bites one hookup that feel away shortly after the crazy fish started jumping towards the boat after taking the shortest lure, the Riggler by #pulsatorlures
The rest of the fleet will soon be joining in the action for what we hoping will be another big fish heavy tackle season of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
The big fish are here to congregate and breed in the nutrient-rich waters found out off the Bazaruto shelf. The big females are most times spotted with an entourage of male suitors. Due to a cancelation VAMIZI as the 22nd to 28th November open, if you interested get in touch for those peaks of the season dates!
And how cool is this shot of a flying jig (top left) snapped whilst capturing this hefty Cobia aka Prodigal Son caught on the jig.
