Bad Company World fishing tour visits Bazaruto: Over the years there have been some amazing mothership operations circumnavigating the globe´s most fertile Marlin waters looking for the ultimate dream, the first which started with Zane Grey almost a decade ago.

Of many, one in particular was a big reference when I was growing up and I remember looking at the Madam & the Hooker in awe in Mindelo in Cape Verde in the early 90´s, on my first ever trip to the Cape Verde Islands.

Jerry Dunaway´s operation was certainly the dream team and along with Skip Smith, Charles Perry, Trevor Cockle, Jeff Fays Scott Levin and many others, over two decades they terrorized the seas, catching over 80 World records and along the way developed and perfected many techniques used today, first and foremost bait & switch.

The Madam & Hooker was the ultimate operation over the last two decades of the last century and one of the firsts to globe throttle the Sportfishing world using a cradle to carry their game boat.

The Bad Company World Tour

Today and for a few years now we have a new operation which has embarked on a World Tour with a magnitude and intensity the World has never seen. Anthony Hsieh´s Bad Company World Tour which started four years ago and has now got two support vessels of 150ft and 175ft and many game boats is by far the largest private fishing program that has ever existed traveling the world´s oceans in pursuit of giant Marlin!

The magnitude of this operation is ginormous and obviously Anthony as a World class crew to deal with all the challenges of new places, the unimaginable planning and preparation that goes into it and among many Capt. Steve Lassley, who Anthony met up and joined forces years ago drives and as the hardest job in the World as he recently put it;

….my job description; basically, my job is to find fish over 500 pounds!!!

Not too bad!!!

With the legend himself – it was such an honour and privilege to meet and fish with Capt. Steve Lassley who was as genuine as enthusiastic about sharing and changing information and showing me the basics of operating that Game changer world that is the OMNI!

Over the last few years, they have travelled to many of the World´s top Marlin destinations, many of them more than once and they have had great fishing in places like Madeira (where they released 5 Blues on their first day), the Azores (where they were right there on probably the best Blue Marlin bite the World has ever seen in September 2023), Cape Verde, Ascension, Brazil´s Royal Charlotte bank, Australia´s Great Barrier Reef and many others.

In 2024 they started exploring the Indian Ocean and in October and November of last year their maiden voyage on this last frontier ocean was our own Bazaruto Archipelago where after decades of fishing Anthony released his biggest Black Marlin to date which they humbly called 900 plus!

As they do on all their trips, they have a great, very professional team documenting the action and recently they released two documentaries on their Bazaruto trip…
