Kids ruling in Mozambique: it’s a kids life when you get to grow up in Mozambique!

Seeing we all about fishing with kids tough I would put on a few pictures of a epic three week trip we did recently with family and friends throughout Southern Mozambique including Santa Maria, Ponta do Ouro, Bartolomeo Dias and with a nice bush side kick to the Kruger National Park!

This trip had many highlights with great sightings at the Kruger, delicious feasts of 20 plus adults and kids on the braai and other delicateness’s, amazing sunset’s and, as to expect, many unexpected adventures such as snorkelling with dolphins and turtles.

But of course fishing always takes priority and especially Dudas, on his first holiday since starting boarding school, making the most out of it, from Sunrise to sunset, in the few days we spent at Santa Maria.

Fishing from shore at Hell’s gate’s is quiet an experience and hard on the gear. More than once, rod in hand, the boys got swept away from the rocks and went for an unexpected swim. Of course, carrying a camera or phone with you was not an option so fish pictures where very scarce.

Depending on the tide there was a lot of spinning and bait fishing and we kept a couple nice eating fish for the braai, but all else was released.

In the afternoon of the third day, and after catching a couple nice ones and among many other anglers on holidays, Duarte hooked what looked like a serious fish on bait.

There where many SA anglers there and each had their pick, but mostly agreed on a big GT’s – head shakes and all! With the incoming tide the boy was drenched as he stood on the rocks, waves crashing on him and the drag as tight as it could possible be.

Forty five minutes of delicious agony it turned out to be this turtle, which being foul hooked on the back of the shell swan away unscratched but obviously put up a big scrap!
