New Year´s Kings & Bills
New Year´s Kings & Bills: We ended the year with a few billfish releases of the Bazaruto Archipelago and started the new year with some more Kings & Bills, as is usual this time of year the boys coming to do some popping and spinning finding many good trevally sessions.
Kings
Although the boys have been catching a few small Blacks, the odd Sailfish, some good Yellowfin Tuna and some wahoo and dorado, due to the normal high sea temperatures January is not the best month for trolling on the Archipelago but it is a great time for some popping, spinning and jigging and the few groups who we had @ Bazaruto recently enjoyed some great session´s.
Bluefin fiesta…
We had our good friend Dean Gouveia on a family trip in mid Jan and they put in a few mornings which were rewarded with some great light spinning action on small Geet´s, some bludger and yellow spotted trevally´s, Taland and 5 spotted queenfish and most of all a lot of really good size bluefin trevally´s.
On their last day they decided to go deeper and had great fun on yellowfin Tuna on poppers.

The last few days have seen the boys targeting Geet´s on the heavier gear with a few nice fish being released.

Bills
As reported on our last post the Marlin bite down south at Santa Maria started to get hot in December and as is usual it got even better in January. The bite should last all the way to April and bigger Blue Marlin are normally more consistent then.
We had Jake McKee fishing down there with our friends Tiago aboard Mister Martins a week or so ago and they had a blast of a time.
In four days fishing they released 5 out of 11 Marlin bites.
They went 1 from 3 on Striped Marlin and 4 from 8 on Blues with some decent fish in the mix and they missed a nice one and lost another which pulled the hook after an hour which they put at 800 pounds.
Good fishing anywhere!!!
