BAZARUTO MARLIN 2016 SEASON WRAP-UP
We just finished up another grand Bazaruto Marlin fishing season, my 16th & once again it was a cracker– must be something to do with this magical place & awesome people I get to share it with!
It really is a blessing when one spends so many repeat seasons in such a remarkable fishery. You bound with certain characters that readily keep coming back year after year. All of a sudden most of them have been coming for 8, 10, 12 or more years and these `clients` have actually become good mates who you really look forward to seeing and spending time on the water with.
Bazaruto Marlin Fishing might not produce the red hot numbers of many other ´famous´ fishing spots around the World but that is the beauty of it, the number of boats are not there and you looking for that ONE special fish…
On average, there are maybe two or three boats out there on a daily basis during the season. And, on so many days I find myself, crew and guests aboard VAMIZI with the Ocean to ourselves and during peak season, something of a privilege and rarity in this day & age!
Then of course is the potential for a colossal size fish of a lifetime to jump on your bait at any moment and thus I come back year after year! There´s of course also the majestic scenery, fishing so close to land, short runs to the fishing grounds and an ocean which is usually extremely alive. The more I travel and get to fish other destinations the more it amazes me how alive it is on the surface here and how special that is – at the end of the day it just enriches the experience hundredfold!
But, they say pictures speak better than words so here´s a few from this past season, hope you enjoy it!

All in all, we released 24 Black´s aboard VAMIZI for a season we only fished about 65% of the days we normally do seeing we had the awesome 3 week trip to the GBR where we caught another 22. We also got 1 striped and 9 Sailfish and of course a bunch of game fish. Biggest fish was 900 plus, a couple 7-800´s and a handful of fish between 500 and 650.
A very BIG thank you to;
